A few ponderables
My mind has been wandering lately about this and that, and I've been pondering a few questions that I can't answer:
* Will the city of Rochester EVER release the $4 million from the Assembly?
* Will the suites and pressbox at PAETEC Park EVER be built?
* Will the city EVER get its $500,000 back from the Amerks, or is that money now essentially just an "investment" in the team?
* Has the Rochester Sports Group experienced any staffing layoffs recently because the teams are having trouble meeting payroll?
* What do Sabres fans in Buffalo think about the Amerks' situation? Do they have trouble understanding how an AHL team that always has some of the highest attendance in the league and has a sweet affiliation deal with its parent can end up begging for money?
* We all know how much Walter Turek and Randall Turek have kicked in financially with the Amerks and Knighthawks, but how much money, exactly, has Donner himself invested in the team's operations since he purchased them?
* What's the extent of the intermingling of funds between the teams at Blue Cross Arena and PAETEC Park? Is one side substantially subsidizing the other?
* Is the whole Sabres vs. Amerks vs. Latona mess just about everybody saving face?

I know for certain 2 people from the Rhinos/Rattlers side were laid off. They needed to lighten payroll, but I spoke to both of them and they were told otherwise.
To pay back debts, they need to sell the teams at a loss if need be. The City/State should not be expected to pump any more money into Donner's operations. He has proven time and time again to be incapable of management at any level. I wish they would bring back debtor's prison!
The money should go to Rochester to improve the neighborhood that Paetec Park resides. Let the new owners finish the stadium. Whatever happens I hope nobody ever, ever, ever says what a good guy Donner is ever again. He's a crook, a liar, and doesn't deserve anymore chances!!!!

Donner has made his fair share of mistakes and I dont want to defend him but he has done alot for the Rochester sports scene and deos deserve some credit.
I think that more than people know his divorce no matter how private has really affected his albility to pay some of his debts.
He is not a bad guy he just got in over his head and things snowballed on him, at this is easy to do.

A bunch of people in Buffalo actually think they're no longer associated with the Amerks. On a recent trip there a couple people gave me blank stares when I said, "we're still associated until at least the end of the season."
