Hrywnak indicted by grand jury

An update on the Orest Hrywnak situation ...

On Nov. 14, a Wayne County grand jury indicted Hrywnak, the COO and general manager of the Rochester RazorSharks, on charges of felony DWI, speeding and reckless driving.

He was arraigned on Nov. 29, and his next court date is Jan. 10. The prosecution is being handled by Wayne County assistant district attorney Christopher Bokelman.

Hrywnak's attorney, Norman Palmiere, has failed to return repeated phone calls placed to his office.

Hrywnak was arrested Sept. 3 in the town of Sodus as he was driving along Route 104.

All of this can't be good news for the RazorSharks, who are getting ready for the inaugural season of the Premier Basketball League.

  • Orest definitely IS a good man, and he's done great things for this community. That's why this case against him is so disheartening. It shows that even good people can make one or two mistakes that can cost them dearly. We've all made mistakes and done things that we wish we hadn't done. I sure do. I hope Orest's case turns out well, because I would hate to see the RazorSharks affected by this all.

However, that doesn't excuse drunken driving. If he's found guilty, it IS a felony, and he should be punished as such. There's no way around that.

  • I agree that Orest is a good guy that just made a mistake and showed poor judgement
He has done a great deal with the team lets hope he can learn from his mistake and move forward
